Our chapter is discussing options for the website. As the outgoing website manager, I am helping with the discussion, but I need more pointers and resources. Figuring that other chapters and communities might be in need of the same information, I'm posting here to get it in one place.Questions:1) What STC resources are available? Is there a wiki template or blog template we could use so we don't have to reinvent the wheel?
2) If we decide to stick with the website, I'd like to implement the STC RSS feed on the front page, but I'm unsure how to do that (I'm a raw coder and don't have dreamweaver or homesite or any WYSIWYG tool) and we are hosted on a UNIX shared hosting site.
3) What conversion problems have other communities faced? We've had a website for at least 9 years, and we have lots of archived information that mostly doesn't get accessed, except for previous newsletters and previous competition winner lists.
4) If your community has gone to a wiki or blog, do you still have a web manager that oversees content and makes sure stuff gets posted? How do you make sure content stays fresh (besides RSS feeds) and that individual managers update their sections, if you go that route?Since we just renewed our domain for the next year, it's not *urgent* to get answers immediately, but I wanted to get feedback and get our discussion rolling in the right direction.
